Returning

Quite a long time has elapsed since I last posted on this Blog...I feel I should do it more often.

I am still turning and carving wood, though not as often as I should,  I seem to spend more time reading how I should be carving / turning than actually doing it, and reading other peoples blogs,  seeing how they turn and/or carve.

The above vase is a natural edge item in Cherry (Prunus avium) It was about 6 inches tall

I have been making some carving mallets from old crown green bowls, turned to shape and fitted with Ash (Fraxinus Excelsior) handles.  The bowls are made from Lignum Vitae (Guiacum officionale)  Super tool, as the Lignum is one of the heavier woods, the balance for a working mallet is much sought after.
